SUMMARY:Special Guest Jill Satterfield - online
DESCRIPTION:This Tuesday\, Napa Valley Insight Meditation will host a talk by Jill Satterfield\, online. \nJill is an international mindfulness and meditation teacher\, consultant and mentor. Her integration of embodied mindfulness and meditation includes somatic practices and contemplative psychology along with 35 years of Buddhist practice and silent retreats. She has been teaching for decades in hospitals\, trauma centers\, addiction institutes\, at risk youth facilities\, corporations and meditation centers with the intention of empowering and inspiring people from all walks of life\, backgrounds and dispositions. \nJill’s dedication to understanding her own mind and body and creating accessible\, practical contemplative practices are rooted in the body. This came by way of multiple surgeries\, years of chronic pain and the marginalization that often comes from a condition not being recognized. She has practiced on over 150 silent meditation retreats – in monasteries\, meditation communities and in isolation. She was named “one of the 4 leading (mindful movement) and Buddhist teachers in the country” by Shambhala Sun (now Lion’s Roar) Magazine. \nTo learn more about Jill go to: https://jillsatterfield.org/ \nJoin Zoom Meeting\nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/9179652791?pwd=RUZaRzcybmRBNmZIRlB2VWhuUnNPdz09

SUMMARY:Special Guest Kim Allen - Online
DESCRIPTION:This Tuesday\, Napa Valley Insight Meditation will host a talk by Buddhist Teacher Kim Allen\, online. \nKim Allen has been practicing Insight meditation since 2003 and has trained intensively in the US and Asia. Trained by Gil Fronsdal\, she now teaches at Insight Santa Cruz and also offers classes and retreats around the Bay Area and farther afield. Dedicated to a contemplative life of study and practice\, she draws from a background in science\, meditation\, and creativity to offer classical Dhamma in a modern context. Her education includes a Ph.D. in physics and a master’s degree in environmental and social sustainability. \nKim’s teaching emphasizes the willingness to look truthfully at experience\, feel it fully\, and soften in light of what is seen. The heart may pass through phases of brittleness\, hardness\, slackness\, fire & ice\, before developing the supple strength that is based on wisdom and compassion. Kim finds it especially meaningful to work with people who are encountering transitions in their lives or their practice. Transition can become transformation. \nTo learn more about Kim go to: https://www.uncontrived.org/ \nJoin Zoom Meeting\nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/9179652791?pwd=RUZaRzcybmRBNmZIRlB2VWhuUnNPdz09
