SUMMARY:Meditation and Discussion: Forrest Hill
DESCRIPTION:Forrest Hill will facilitate this evening’s meditation and discussion. Forrest has been practicing Insight Meditation since 2004 and is a founding member of Napa Valley Insight Meditation. He is currently enrolled in the Community Dharma Leaders Program at Spirit Rock Meditation Center. \nOur evening sittings generally begin with a 30 minute meditation\, followed by a short break for tea and greetings. The Facilitator will then give a short talk on relevant themes and lead a group discussion.  All levels of experience are welcome.

SUMMARY:Special Guest: Eve Decker
DESCRIPTION:Eve has been singing\, song writing\, and performing since she was 8 years old!  In her 20’s she co-founded\, played\, recorded and toured with the feminist folk trio Rebecca Riots for 15 years.  Rebecca Riots was dubbed “Best Band with a Conscience” by the San Francisco Bay Guardian.  Eve has also released two CDs of original\, dharma based music\, and will release a third in September 2015. \nEve began practicing Vipassana meditation in 1991 and has been a Buddhist teacher since 2006.  She am a graduate of UC Berkeley\, and the Community Dharma Leader training programs at Spirit Rock Center in California. She has travel throughout California and internationally to teach mindfulness\, lovingkindness\, compassion and gratitude directly and through music.

DESCRIPTION:Mathew Sockolov will give a talk entitled “Wise Engagement with Joy.” Matthew has been teaching meditation in Los Angeles for several years at Against the Stream Buddhist Meditation Society\, leading groups at addiction treatment centers\, and working one-on-one with people to deepen their personal practice. He practices regularly at Wat Metta Monastery in San Diego with Thanissaro Bhikkhu\, and is currently in the Community Dharma Leader training program at Spirit Rock Meditation Center.

DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday July 26\, at 7:00 Napa Valley Insight Meditation will host a presentation by Syra Smith. \nSyra is Founder and Curator for Oakland’s Dana Cafe\, a monthly gathering offering transformational teachings at no cost to participants. She co-leads and organizes East Bay Meditation Center’s weekly Teen Sangha and is a mindfulness and meditation instructor with the Mind Body Awareness Project. Syra graduated East Bay Meditation Center’s yearlong Commit to Dharma program in 2011 and is a current participant in Spirit Rock Meditation Center’s 2 year Community Dharma Leaders training program. \nOur evening sittings generally begin with a 30 minute meditation\, followed by a short break for tea and greetings. The Facilitator will then give a short talk on relevant themes and lead a group discussion.  All levels of experience are welcome. \nNVIM meets at Napa Valley Unitarian Universalists (1625 Salvador Ave\, Napa CA).
