DESCRIPTION:Join Lori Stelling and Mike Coughlin\, local leaders of N.V.I.M.\, for a day of\nmeditation and reflection on our personal and communal\nrelationship with the unfolding and escalating climate\nemergency. How do we look inward and hold the truth of\nour experience without falling into states of overwhelm and\nparalysis? How do we look outward at the world around us\nand find the resolve to take meaningful action while also\nmaintaining a sense of balance and equanimity? \nDuring this half-day retreat\, which is open to experienced\nmeditators as well as those who are new to the practice\, we\nwill participate in periods of meditation\, gentle movement and\nreflective exercises. He is also the founder and co-editor of the Theravada Buddhist journal “Inquiring Mind.” \nMr. Nisker has studied Buddhist meditation for three decades with teachers in Asia and America\, and for the past 15 years has been leading his own retreats and workshops in Buddhist insight meditation and philosophy at venues internationally. DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday March 5th\, Napa Valley Insight Meditation will host a presentation by Dharma Musician and Teacher\, Eve Decker. \nEve has been singing\, song writing\, and performing since she was 8 years old! In her 20’s she co-founded\, played\, recorded and toured with the feminist folk trio Rebecca Riots for 15 years. Rebecca Riots was dubbed “Best Band with a Conscience” by the San Francisco Bay Guardian. Eve has also released two CDs of original\, dharma based music\, and will release a third in September 2015. \nEve began practicing Vipassana meditation in 1991 and has been a Buddhist teacher since 2006. She am a graduate of UC Berkeley\, and the Community Dharma Leader training programs at Spirit Rock Center in California. She has travel throughout California and internationally to teach mindfulness\, lovingkindness\, compassion and gratitude directly and through music.

DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday February 26th\, Napa Valley Insight Meditation will host a presentation by Andrew Chaikin. \nAndrew has practiced in the Theravada tradition since 2001. He has taught dharma\, meditation and mindfulness in many settings: the wilderness\, prisons\, corporations\, even the U.S. Congress. He is passionate about bringing heart-based wisdom into everyday life. \nHe leads a weekly sitting group in San Francisco called Heart Camp\, and has worked with adults\, teens and kids at Spirit Rock and IMC. He is the Coordinating Teacher of the meditation and yoga program at the San Francisco County Jail – part of an award-winning restorative justice program. He has toured the world as musician Kid Beyond\, bringing ancient wisdom into modern rock and electronic music. \nAndrew is a Spirit Rock-authorized Community Dharma Leader\, a graduate of their Dedicated Practitioners Program – and a certified teacher of Search Inside Yourself\, the mindful leadership course born at Google. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Brown University in Providence\, RI.
