Forrest Hill has been practicing Insight Meditation since 2004 and is a founding member of Napa Valley Insight Meditation. He is a graduate of the the 2 year Community Dharma Leaders Program at Spirit Rock Meditation Center. \nNew NVIM COVID Guidelines for Attendance (updated 10/1/22): \n\nFull vaccination (2 COVID shots and at least booster) is strongly recommended.\nSocial distancing between chairs will be maintained for those who choose.\nMasks are OPTIONAL. If you feel comfortable\, you do not need to wear a mask. If you are a vulnerable person\, or live with a vulnerable person\, consider wearing a well-fitting mask during sangha.\n\nWhen NOT to attend sangha: \n\nIf you have tested positive for COVID\, until the 11th day after your symptoms first started or you tested positive (whichever comes first). Mike is a public school administrator\, trained mediator\, and has been practicing mindfulness in the vipassana tradition for over 15 years. He has received training through Spirit Rock Meditation Center\, Mindful Schools and is a Certified Mindfulness Facilitator through the Semel Institute for Neuroscience & Human Behavior at the University of California\, Los Angeles. SUMMARY:Outdoor Sangha Fest w/ Mike Coughlin: In-Person Only -  NVIM Is Outdoors & On The Back Patio In August!
DESCRIPTION:During the month of August\, our Tuesday evening sangha will be moving to the outdoor patio at the Unitarian Universalist church without the requirement of wearing masks. This gathering\, similar to our “Sunset Sanghas” from last year\, will be in-person only (not on Zoom) and will provide our NVIM community with an opportunity to re-connect with each other and the natural world around us. During the month of August our Thursday Morning Meditation will continue to meet on Zoom to support our on-line community. More details about Sangha Fest will be forth coming. \nPlease bring your own:\n– lawn chair\n– drink (if you wish)\n– layered clothing (it can cool down and the patio is shaded)

Mike is a public school administrator\, trained mediator\, and has been practicing mindfulness in the vipassana tradition for over 15 years. He has received training through Spirit Rock Meditation Center\, Mindful Schools and is a Certified Mindfulness Facilitator through the Semel Institute for Neuroscience & Human Behavior at the University of California\, Los Angeles. In 2014 she began attending Napa Valley Insight Meditation sangha\, became an active member on the NVIM board in 2017 and facilitates the NVIM Thursday morning silent meditation. In 2021 she graduated from the 2-year Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program developed and offered by Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach. Debbie. (See Guidelines below) \nThis Tuesday evening sangha will be led by guest teacher\, Jill Satterfield. Jill is an international mindfulness and meditation teacher\, consultant and mentor. Her integration of embodied mindfulness and meditation includes somatic practices and contemplative psychology along with 35 years of Buddhist practice and silent retreats. She has been teaching for decades in hospitals\, trauma centers\, addiction institutes\, at risk youth facilities\, corporations and meditation centers with the intention of empowering and inspiring people from all walks of life\, backgrounds and dispositions. \nJill’s dedication to understanding her own mind and body and creating accessible\, practical contemplative practices are rooted in the body. This came by way of multiple surgeries\, years of chronic pain and the marginalization that often comes from a condition not being recognized. She has practiced on over 150 silent meditation retreats – in monasteries\, meditation communities and in isolation.
