Aloka Vihara is a community of bhikkhunis (fully-ordained nuns) living in the Sierra Foothills, dedicated to practicing the Buddha’s teaching in the style of the Theravada Forest Tradition. NVIM supports the nuns work to build a rural monastery where women can live and train as nuns and where the lay community can practice.

On Saturday June 27th, we have been asked to come up to the Vihara to help build a yurt that will be part of the new monastery. We will also have a chance to meet with the bhikkhunis to explore the monastery. For those that are interested, there is the option of camping out overnight till Sunday, June 28th.
